In 1976, Ronald Reagan at the Republican National Convention of that year; announced that he placed a letter in a time capsule to be opened in Los Angeles in 2076. In a pivotal speech given at that convention, Reagan expressed his concern that the people of 2076 would never get to read the letter, because it spoke of individual freedom, “...and they won’t be allowed to talk of that or read of it.”
